Find Space. Find Silence. Find Africa.
Where The Klein Karoo Breathes
For those drawn to adventure, the reserve is a paradise for mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts, with scenic trails winding through valleys, kloofs and mountain passes. Walks, hikes and game drives reveal the ever-changing beauty of the Karoo, while birdlife and plains game are part of everyday encounters. Whether active or at rest, each moment is shaped by space, freedom and the raw beauty of the land.
African Game Lodge also embraces a refined yet grounded approach to hospitality. Guests can choose between charming lodge accommodation or upmarket glamping, where the simplicity of camping is elevated with comfort and thoughtful detail. Evenings are best spent around a fire or at the lodge’s restaurant, where authentic, traditional Karoo fare is served — hearty, seasonal and deeply connected to the region’s culinary heritage.
Ultimately, African Game Lodge is a place to breathe deeply, move freely and rediscover the luxury of time and space. This is a living landscape that tells its own story — one of balance, resilience and quiet beauty — and every guest becomes part of it, even if only for a while.
Our Story, Written in the Landscape
African Game Lodge is more than a destination — it is a place shaped by time, terrain and a deep respect for the natural world. Nestled within a vast valley of the Klein Karoo, the lodge forms part of a privately owned nature reserve where wide open spaces, dramatic mountain backdrops and indigenous wildlife define daily life. Here, nature sets the rhythm, and every sunrise, drifting cloud and distant call of wildlife becomes part of the story. From the beginning, African Game Lodge has been guided by a commitment to conservation, simplicity and authenticity. The land is protected so that wildlife can roam freely and ecosystems can flourish, while guests are invited to slow down and reconnect — with nature, with silence, and with themselves. Carefully positioned thatched cottages, inspired by traditional Karoo architecture, blend seamlessly into the landscape, offering comfort without intrusion and luxury without excess.

GOOD Based on 133 reviews Posted on Pieter GroblerTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What an experience. Arriving quite late in the evening, the host was extremely friendly and happy to receive us. On request he was willing to arrange for us a late supper. It was a burger and chips, that will compete with many master chefs. Went on a lovely game drive in the morning.Posted on Danika AfricaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. It was such an amazing experience to see all the animals and have Monwa as a guide to answer any questions we have!Posted on Charmrie LabuschagneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stunning location with really friendly staff and owners. Definitely worth making a trip to AGLPosted on Joan AnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful, child-friendly lodge with simple yet very clean and tastefully designed chalets that feature both an outdoor braai and a fireplace to heat the chalet (4 bags of fire wood as well as fire starters were provided upon arrival). The staff and owners were very welcoming and helpful, making us feel as part of the family - special thanks to Elijah who pointed out game, was always at hand to assist as well as cooking us delicious dinner. Jan, the owner, treated us to a beautiful game drive including a picnic with a view over the waterhole. We got caught in the rain and it made the experience even better. Worth staying two nights or more to really unwind, enjoy the nature and see some game. A baby cot is available upon request.Posted on Alexander FreudenbergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For a 3 star self catering you should not expect much. Good for a 1 night visit. Take a cell phone battery bank and a ups battery for lights and your own fan. No cellphone signal so prepare to be offline but they do have adequate unsecured wifi
