Tucked away 2km from the main lodge, The Big House is our most private retreat—a place where the horizon belongs entirely to you. Designed for those who value intimacy as much as they value space, this is more than just a home; it is a private sanctuary where you can truly switch off and leave the rest of the world behind.
The Space: The Big House is built for connection. Whether you’re hosting a large family or two couples seeking a quiet escape, the residence offers four spacious, comfortable bedrooms—each anchored by a plush double bed. It is a home designed for slow mornings and long, lingering evenings, perfectly equipped to serve as your private basecamp in the Little Karoo.
The Great Indoors & The Great Outdoors: The star of the show is your private swimming pool—an oasis set against the backdrop of our majestic mountains, perfect for those long, lazy afternoons under the African sun. When the temperature dips, gather in the generous living areas to share stories and laughter.
Step out onto the grounds to experience the true silence of the reserve. Here, the landscape is your private playground, offering the kind of seclusion that allows you to reconnect with your favorite people without a single distraction.
A Note on Our “Off-Grid” Soul: We believe in true disconnection. The Big House is powered by the sun and the silence. Warm water is fueled by gas, and we encourage you to unplug, breathe, and reset. Need to connect? Our main lodge area is just a short hop away, offering full power, charging stations, and Wi-Fi. Out here, the only “reception” you’ll get is the raw, untamed beauty of the Little Karoo and the stars above.

Arriving quite late in the evening, the host was extremely friendly and happy to receive us. On request he was willing to arrange for us a late supper. It was a burger and chips, that will compete with many master chefs. Went on a lovely game drive in the morning.Posted on Google Danika AfricaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Monwa was the best and helped us with any and everything we asked for! It was such an amazing experience to see all the animals and have Monwa as a guide to answer any questions we have!Posted on Google Charmrie LabuschagneTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Stunning location with really friendly staff and owners. Definitely worth making a trip to AGLPosted on Google Joan AnTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful, child-friendly lodge with simple yet very clean and tastefully designed chalets that feature both an outdoor braai and a fireplace to heat the chalet (4 bags of fire wood as well as fire starters were provided upon arrival). The staff and owners were very welcoming and helpful, making us feel as part of the family - special thanks to Elijah who pointed out game, was always at hand to assist as well as cooking us delicious dinner. Jan, the owner, treated us to a beautiful game drive including a picnic with a view over the waterhole. We got caught in the rain and it made the experience even better. Worth staying two nights or more to really unwind, enjoy the nature and see some game. A baby cot is available upon request.Posted on Google Alexander FreudenbergTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. For a 3 star self catering you should not expect much. Good for a 1 night visit. Take a cell phone battery bank and a ups battery for lights and your own fan. No cellphone signal so prepare to be offline but they do have adequate unsecured wifi
